Jeff Sterba


Mr. Sterba has spent 38 years in the energy and water fields, including 14 as CEO of two companies. From 2010–2014 he served as President and CEO of American Water, the largest publicly traded water resources company in North America.  From 2000–2010 he was Chairman and CEO of PNM Resources, an energy utility and parent company of three utilities, a competitive retail provider and a competitive generating company.  From 1998-2000, he was Executive Vice President of United States Enrichment Corporation (USEC), a global energy company.  From 1977-1998 he served at PNM Resources in various capacities, eventually becoming Executive Vice-President and COO.

 

Along with his executive positions, Mr. Sterba has served on the boards of American Water, PNM Resources, Optim Energy, The Keystone Center and Meridian Institute.   Additionally, he has served on the boards of several nonprofit organizations.  He was Chairman of Edison Electric Institute (EEI), the trade association for US electric utilities, and a Board member of the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), the international technology and research arm for the electric industry.  He has been a board member of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and was chairman of a regional chapter.  He has received numerous awards, including the Keystone Leadership in Energy Award.

 

Mr. Sterba received a B.A. in Economics from Washington University in St. Louis. He conducted post-graduate work in economics at Washington University and was accepted as a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Chicago.
